Although it doesn’t rain as much as in some other places, when it does rain in Cincinnati, we know how to make the most of it! There are plenty of fun things to do indoors on a rainy day, and we’ve put together a list of our favorites. From watching movies, playing video games, eating great food, and visiting some of our top museums, check out our list for ideas on how to have a good time even when the weather isn’t cooperating!
1. Watch a movie at the Esquire Theatre
The Queen City’s historic Esquire Theatre is one of the best places to catch a flick, rain, or shine. With its Art Deco design and old-school charm, the Esquire is an experience in itself, and they always have a great selection of films playing. Alternatively, you can always cozy up at home with a good movie and some popcorn.
2. Play some video games at an arcade bar
Cincinnati is home to some great arcade bars, like 16-Bit Bar+Arcade and Button Masherz, perfect for spending a rainy day. With classic games like Pac-Man and Donkey Kong and newer titles, you’re sure to find something to enjoy. And of course, beer and other drinks are always available to keep you entertained.
3. Eat some comfort food at Skyline Chili
No rainy day is complete without some comfort food, and Skyline Chili is the perfect place to get it. This Cincinnati institution is known for its delicious chili, and there’s nothing better than a hot bowl on a cold, rainy day. Make sure to order their famous coney dogs too-you won’t regret it!
4. Visit the Cincinnati Art Museum
The Cincinnati Art Museum is one of the city’s top cultural attractions, and it’s a great place to spend a rainy day. With a wide array of art from different cultures and periods, there’s something for everyone at the CAM. And best of all, admission is free!
5. Explore the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden
The Cincinnati Zoo is always a fun place to visit, rain or shine. With over 500 animals to see and a botanical garden with over 4,000 plant species, there’s plenty to explore. And if it’s raining hard, you can always take shelter in one of the zoo’s many buildings and exhibits.
5. Go shopping at Kenwood Towne Centre
Kenwood Towne Centre is one of Cincinnati’s premier shopping destinations, and it’s the perfect place to spend a rainy day. With over 150 stores and restaurants, you’re sure to find something to suit your taste. And if you get tired of walking around, there’s always the food court to relax in.
6. Take a walk through the Mercantile Library
The Mercantile Library is one of Cincinnati’s hidden gems. This beautiful building houses a wide collection of books and a cafe and event space. And on rainy days, it’s the perfect place to take a stroll and explore all that the library has to offer.
7. Have some fun at Kings Island
Just because it’s raining doesn’t mean you can’t have some fun! Kings Island is one of Ohio’s premier amusement parks, and it’s a great place to spend a day-rain or shine. With over 100 rides, attractions, and a water park, there’s something for everyone at Kings Island.
8. Have a drink (or two) at The Lackman
The Lackman is one of Cincinnati’s best bars, and it’s the perfect place to warm up on a cold, rainy day. The Cincinnati Museum Center is one of the city’s top attractions, and it’s a great place to spend a rainy day. With three museums under one roof-the Museum of Natural History & Science, the Cincinnati History Museum, and the Duke Energy Children’s Museum-there’s plenty to see and do. And if you get hungry, there’s also a food court with various options.
10. Go bowling at Plum Street Tavern
